When you have great hair, you feel confident. The way you carry yourself when you feel good about yourself rubs off on others and gives them confidence in you and your abilities, so looking great is very important. It’s difficult to hide bad hair, so you have to make the effort to keep your hair in top shape if you want to feel great about yourself. There is a lot of advice about hair out there but some of it is conflicting whereas other advice doesn’t reap enough rewards to be worth the effort. Here is some realistic advice on how to keep your hair looking its best.

Wash your hair gently. Do not lather up your hair with shampoo roughly and twist it around or squeeze it too hard to get the moisture out. Wet hair is easier to damage so tread carefully when washing. Blot very gently with your towel instead of rubbing vigorously. Try to minimize the time your hair spends wet by skipping a few washings and using waterless shampoo to keep your hair feeling clean in the interim.

Keep your hair moisturized. Dry Hair is very susceptible to damage and it just simply isn’t attractive. Keep your hair looking soft and shiny by using conditioner regularly and back that up with a deep conditioner or hot oil treatment at least once per week.

Choose hair products carefully. Avoid harsh chemicals and irritating ingredients such as alcohol. Try to use natural ingredients whenever possible. A product like Osis Dust It, which is a powder, is a better choice for adding volume than a gel laden with alcohol and silicones.

Beware of heat. Try to avoid using a Hair Dryer, flat iron, or curling iron as much as possible. When you simply can’t avoid it, be sure to use a thermal protector product to hedge against the damage. Always use the lowest heat setting that can still get the job done. If your hair appliance does not let you control the temperature, consider investing in one that does.

Get your hair cut on a regular basis. Trimming your hair every two months is the best way to keep a nice shape to your hair. Trimming off split ends helps your hair look healthier overall. If it’s not in your budget, you might want to go to use cheap salons for the in-between trimmings and save your money for the big cuts and style changes at more reputable salons.
